1. Introduction
Welcome to Hair By Melissa. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our salon services and your relationship with Hair By Melissa ("we," "us," or "our"). By booking an appointment or using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

2. Service Terms
Our professional hair services include, but are not limited to:
- Hair coloring (highlights, balayage, full color, color correction)
- Keratin treatments and hair smoothing services
- Hair cutting and styling
- Special occasion styling
- Hair treatments and conditioning
All services are performed by appointment only. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason, including but not limited to inability to safely perform the requested service or inappropriate behavior.
3. Appointments and Cancellations
24-Hour Cancellation Policy
We require at least 24 hours notice for all appointment cancellations or rescheduling. Failure to provide adequate notice may result in a cancellation fee of up to 50% of the scheduled service cost.
No-Show Policy: Clients who fail to appear for their scheduled appointment without notice will be charged the full service amount and may be required to prepay for future appointments.
Late Arrivals: If you arrive more than 15 minutes late for your appointment, we may need to reschedule to avoid impacting other clients. We will do our best to accommodate you, but cannot guarantee the full service if time is limited.
4. Payment Terms
Payment is due at the time of service. We accept the following payment methods:
- Cash
- EFTPOS/Debit cards
- Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard)
- Bank transfer (prior arrangement required)
All prices are in New Zealand Dollars (NZD) and include GST. Prices are subject to change without notice, though we will honor the price quoted at the time of booking.
5. Service Guarantee
7-Day Satisfaction Guarantee
We stand behind our work. If you are not completely satisfied with your service, please contact us within 7 days of your appointment. We will work with you to address any concerns and may offer a complimentary adjustment appointment if necessary.
This guarantee applies to technical issues only (e.g., color not as expected, uneven cut) and does not cover change of mind or services performed according to your specific instructions that you later decide you don't like.
6. Liability Limitations
While we take every precaution to ensure the safety and quality of our services:
- We are not liable for any allergic reactions to products used, unless you have informed us of known allergies prior to service
- We are not responsible for damage to clothing or personal items during your visit
- Our liability for any service is limited to the cost of the service provided
- We are not responsible for results that differ from expectations when proper consultation procedures were followed
Health Disclosure: Clients must disclose any relevant health conditions, allergies, or sensitivities that may affect our ability to safely provide services. This includes pregnancy, recent surgeries, scalp conditions, and chemical sensitivities.
7. Intellectual Property
All content on our website, social media, and marketing materials, including but not limited to photos, text, logos, and designs, is the property of Hair By Melissa and is protected by copyright laws.
Client Photos: We may request permission to photograph our work for portfolio and marketing purposes. You maintain ownership of your image, but grant us a license to use photos in which you appear for our business purposes. You may decline photo permission without affecting your service.
8. Privacy and Data Protection
We respect your privacy and protect your personal information in accordance with New Zealand privacy laws. Information collected includes:
- Contact information for appointment booking and reminders
- Service history for quality and safety purposes
- Allergy and health information relevant to services
- Payment information for transaction processing
We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties except as required by law or with your explicit consent.
9. Modifications to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting to our website. Continued use of our services after any modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
We will make reasonable efforts to notify regular clients of significant changes to these Terms via email or during appointments.
10. Dispute Resolution
We are committed to resolving any disputes or concerns promptly and fairly. Please contact us directly with any issues, and we will work with you to find a satisfactory resolution.
These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes that cannot be resolved directly will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
